Oakleigh is a residential suburb with considerable secondary industry 15 km south-east of Melbourne, immediately beyond Caulfield and Malvern. Until 1853 the area was known as Scotchmans Creek, when the name Oakleigh was given to it. 

Oakleigh is a lovely suburb with a good selection of shops close by including a Centro. There is a good selection of houses available from apartments through to family homes. There are some good cafes close by for that coffee or quick bite to eat and there is the local Sunday market.
